As you go east away from the Black Sea to the eastern Caucasus mountains, the climate gets dryer and colder during the winter (harsher climate). Armenian bees are from this area in the eastern part of the Caucasus mountain range.

And so, this is entirely possible that here in the US we do have genes of the yellow Caucasians floating around as well. There you have it - "Italian" looking bee doing "wet" capping. Also not saying anything I do is the correct way. But they seem to know what they are doing. I guess if I had different goals it might make sense during parts of the year.

One thing I really like is the smell of the mountain propolis, it smells like the forest. I keep some in a jar and smell it off and on all winter long and it always makes me happy.
