Founded in 1984, CASS is Arizona’s largest and longest serving emergency shelter program serving people experiencing homelessness. Both our adult and family shelters operate at full capacity 24/7, 365 days of the year.
Community Impact - Central Arizona Shelter Services
CASS has been able to keep our doors open 24/7, sheltering over 6,500 people in crisis, providing over 230,000 bed nights, case managing over 2,000 people and assisting more than 1,262 get back or remain in their housing.

Since 1984, CASS has worked tirelessly to meet the needs of our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Homelessness in the early 1980s was increasing in Phoenix and across the country. The unemployment rate in November 1982 peaked at 10.8%.
