There are TWO conventions for numbering keys (notes) in MIDI. The most common is the one below where MIDDLE C (note #60; $3C) is C3 (C in the 3rd octave).

2014年9月7日 · We call it "A" because it is the first useful note on a keyboard instrument (pre-pianoforte keyboards most likely). This is not true, because the lowest note wasn't always A.
