Later, Cook decided that he would create color varieties of the Orpington. The Buff Orpington was the third color variety to be created. Today they are the most popular color variety of all the Orpingtons.

The breed originated in Orpington, Kent, United Kingdom in the late 1800's. There are Black Orpingtons, White Orpingtons, Blue Orpingtons (somewhat rare), and Buff Orpingtons - the Buff color being the most prevalent.

2025年1月8日 · I don't believe there is such a thing as a "lemon" Orpington (lemon cuckoo is just buff cuckoo.) Every other color you listed here breeds true except the blue partridge. I guess I'd recommend breeding those with regular partridge because edging in this variety is less important (unless you want to get splash partridge.)

From cackle hatchery : “ Buckeye, New Hampshire & Buff Orpington Chickens Males have a white or cream-colored spot on each upper wing.
