2011年1月29日 · They do make brass pipe in both yellow and red brass. Few contractors will use it due to the high cost sch 40 brass vs CTS copper and of course the newer plastics. Sch 40 brass seems to hold up for 100 years or more in this area. It all comes down to money. Why not make everything copper? #1 price. #2 pure copper is very soft and has poor strength.

Not that it's a real problem, but I discussed that once with my RPG buddies and it turned out that nobody really remembered what the exact difference between copper, brass and bronze dragons was. Everyone remembered some bits, but not not enough to get together what their sthicks were.

2006年10月24日 · I have used Shark Bites and the Watts version of same -- sold by Lowes. Lowes version made by Watts are brass, very heavy duty, with white plastic cover on ends. Know that Lowes also has a product called GatorBites. They are thin wall pressed copper and once a push connection is made you cannot release like the Shark and Watts versions.

2015年3月25日 · Get out of HD and Lowes and over to a decent plumbing supplier. I am using and plan to use the Uponor propex fittings and aquapex pipe as much as possible going forward, using the Milwaukee expansion tool. Still some use for copper.

I replaced all the copper in the house with new type L 10 years ago when the house was approx 65 years old. No problems at all were found except for some of the old gate valves which were replaced using legend full-port ball valves.

Remember that copper has it's own issues as well theres a municipality where I live that has banned copper all together (above or below ground) due to the acidic soil and ph of the water. Nothing will live forever.

You can actually protect 14awg copper with a 110 amp breaker and still be 100% Code compliant. Hint: It has something to do with the asterisk beside the part that says you can use a maximum 15amp breaker on #14 awg copper.
