I'm enrolled in my last semester of a certification program to become a paralegal and have been lurking this sub for quite some time. I get that people need a place to vent about their jobs and that makes sense. I'm not judging anyone for doing so. However, reading all of the posts on here is giving me second thoughts about becoming a paralegal.

National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA): The Paralegal CORE Competency Exam gets you the CORE RP title, (CORE Registered Paralegal).

You WILL have more and higher paying opportunities as a paralegal if you have a bachelor’s degree (in paralegal studies or any other subject), despite what other commenters are saying, but a bachelor’s degree in another subject may be more transferable if you later decide to transition out of the field.

2022年7月18日 · The bottom line is that most attorneys are notorious for being disorganized and flaky. They use the excuse of being "focused on the work " as a way to avoid accountability for their deadlines, so the paralegal job is to remind them repeatedly, which they will ignore or resent, or both. You're just there to take the blame when the lawyer fucks up.

2023年4月19日 · I'm new the field, but when I was first hired, I was told that I would be a legal assistant. Once I was onboarded, my job title was "paralegal." Personally, I think it was just a way to hire me without paying me what a paralegal would actually make. Basically, I fo everything a paralegal would do and get paid the rate of a legal assistant.

2020年7月30日 · Oh yeah, your accounting BA and a paralegal certificate on top of it will be really good. I bet the accounting degree will turn out useful too. You could even try to get an entry level legal secretary or paralegal role right out of college. I got one the fall after I graduated during my first semester of paralegal studies.
