When does an old car become a beater? - Car Talk Community
2010年8月20日 · An old car does not need to become a beater! I’ve seen cars that were over 30 years old and still used as reliable daily drivers. At what point is a car considered a beater? : r/cars - Reddit
2021年3月21日 · To me a beater is a car that has fallen apart cosmetically. Meaning it's got cracked/broken switches and knobs, ripped seats, cracked windshield. One of the windows won't roll down. Dents and faded paint. When you see the guy in front of you at the fast food line open his door to pay, cause his window is broken. That's a beater to me.

What has been your experience with "Beater Cars"? - Reddit
My car was totaled recently and I am currently debating between a $4K - $7K beater car or a new one. I am leaning towards a cheaper used car to avoid another car payment, but iffy about the risk of potential repairs/etc. To preface, I drive 110 miles to work about 3-4 times a week.
Sometimes a beater car instead of a car payment is NOT the answer.
I did the 'beater' car thing for over 10 years. Had two of them if something happened to the one. I averaged $600 per car in maintenance per year, and the price of the cars were between $200-1000, average about $500, did some of the work myself. Had a GREAT local mechanic. Bought a new beater about every other year.
