2021年10月3日 · Beaters are for people who 1) have the free time (often many hours) to do their own maintenance on the car, such as brakes, struts, timing belts, water pumps, fuel pumps, etc…. And 2) have access to the tools necessary for this maintenance. Old beater cars need good regular maintenance to keep running smoothly.

I averaged $600 per car in maintenance per year, and the price of the cars were between $200-1000, average about $500, did some of the work myself. Had a GREAT local mechanic. 2021年3月21日 · To me a beater is a car that has fallen apart cosmetically. Meaning it's got cracked/broken switches and knobs, ripped seats, cracked windshield. One of the windows won't roll down. Dents and faded paint. When you see the guy in front of you at the fast food line open his door to pay, cause his window is broken. That's a beater to me.
