AFH M1 bayonet 1943 Find of the century! Rarest of the rare!
2021年3月7日 · Referring again to Gary Cunningham's work, that standard M1 bayonet by American Fork and Hoe was one of about 1.1 million made in 1944/45. The 1943 dated ones that were made as 10" (when production changed from the earlier longer 16") are the rare ones. It is in nice shape though!

2010年7月13日 · Bayonet made as M1 - with 10 inch blade, not shortened from the 16 inch blade. US WW2 made: AFH - American Fork and Hoe. OL - Oneida Limited. PAL - Pal Blade and Tool. UC - Utica Cutlery. UFH - Union Fork and Hoe Made post WW2 (mostly in the 1950s) in other countries. Excellent copies, parts usually interchangeable.

2011年12月14日 · The specifications for the M1 bayonet called for them to not be dated. Some of the makers continued to use the date stamps for a short time before they were replaced by the newer undated versions. UFH used the dated stamp on some of these transition bayonets while others were not dated.

2016年3月9日 · The US Army considered them indistinguishable from the M1 bayonet when they were issued which may have obscured their use during WWII. I have four of these modified M1905 bayonets, two beak points and two spear points. One of the beak points is made by AFH (marked on the tang) and one is by UFH (marked on the Ricasso).

2019年4月6日 · I think it depends on how you look at it. You have a Greek return bayonet. The finish you see is exactly what it is supposed to look like. You have a US M1 bayonet that was lent to the Greek government for their use. The finish you see confirms that history. I wouldn't change it at all. Your next M1 bayonet can be a US only issued bayonet.

2021年3月7日 · Marv, that does help explain things thank you! I do have a base knowledge of bayonets, and in fact have about a dozen books on my shelf on the topic. In addition to the bayonet I showed above, I have a mint unissued 1905/42 AFH dated 1942 bayonet in my collection. Others have come and gone over my 32 years of collecting.

2012年1月8日 · First of all I am not an expert, and every time I think I am, I regret it. That said, there isn't a real reliable way to date M7 bayonets, however, if you want to be sure that your bayonet is a Viet Nam era bayonet, then get a Milpar marked M7. According to Gary Cunningham's book (you should get one), Milpar provided M7 bayonets from 1964 to 1967.

2023年7月7日 · The caption for the photos is, T2 Hotpoint bayonet with experimental stamped sheet metal scabbard. Who could argue with Frank? Well it seems that the general consensus is that the Hotpoint T2 bayonet never had a scabbard. This opinion was also held by the late great Gary Cunningham. Oh well, ya win some, ya lose some.

2010年7月25日 · The bayonet does fit the normal specifications (wide guard, slotted tang and 90 degree backcut) and is well made and fitted. It has the DAS on the underside of the guard. Finish is a medium gray slightly rough Parkerizing, but it must be remembered that even slight use and oiling can darken and smooth out Parkerized finishes quite a bit.
