2008年12月25日 · He uses Bartley Gel stains as a finish. The kits appear to make nice furniture. Someone with not much equipment or a large shop shop can build a good piece of classic furniture. The kits come in varied woods such as curly maple, cherry, and mahogany. There can be alot of work to some pieces. Bartley sells kits or they have a finished price.

2006年6月16日 · Peter,I have been using Bartley's Gel Varnish for about five years now and I always go over each coat with #0000 steel wool and get wonderful results.I have also found that "3" is the magic number, meaning that I need at least 3 coats to achieve that wonderful satin look. Thanks for your reply. I talked to someone at Bartley, I was told that if I want to use it on kitchen cabinets, when the coating looks worn out, I can just apply more varnish to it. I have never tried to finish any kitchen cabinet before with any material.

2021年8月5日 · My husband made several Bartley kits as furniture for our home here near Baltimore, MD. Bartley kits are reproductions of old style furniture and were made in Denton, MD. The company has since changed hands and does not produce my kits any more. My husband passed away a year ago and I have found four full kits in our attic.

2017年1月18日 · I have the "Thomas Harland Tall Case Clock" kit in Cherry for sale if anyone is interested in buying it. It is in four boxes, 3 are unopened and banded, the fourth is the clock mechanical box that was opened by the salesperson at the Bartley collection location in Maryland. The box is open but the clock works are sealed in some sort of plastic.

2007年4月12日 · Check out Bartley paste wood fillers at homesteadfinishing.com and look under paste wood fillers and glazes. They give a little tutorial and a color chart and tinting bases. I think you will find what you need. Terry

2006年8月10日 · I am finishing bird’s eye maple with 0.75# cut dark shellac then Bartley’s walnut gel stain as a glaze then 1# cut extra pale shellac then four coats of Pratt & Lamber 38 gloss varnish rubbed out to satin. The result is fantastic. My question is about application of the Pratt & Lambert 38 varnish. I thinned it 12% and used a fitch brush.
