Barbelo is the name given to the first entity to arise from God in the literature of the classic Gnostics. After God, she’s the foremost inhabitant of the Pleroma, the Gnostic name for Heaven. God doesn’t “create” Barbelo per se; instead, she comes from him by some indirect means.
