Roll crimping plastic hulls - Shooters Forum
Sep 26, 2010 · I'm trying to develop 10 and 12 gauge reloads for the non-standard chamber lengths of late 19th century SxS double barrels. Those shells were almost entirely roll crimped in those days. I've tried the tools from Ballistic Products on Winchester, Remington, Federal, and Fiocchi hulls and cannot get the roll crimp to look good/professional.
ROLL CRIMPING and LOAD DATA | Shooters Forum
Apr 4, 2004 · MikeG, you have given good advice twice. Per your advice, I contacted am waiting for a response from Ballistic Products on my question about active wad substitution. I will get a LYMAN Shotshell Manual and look for Roll Crimp data. (The manufacturer's don't offer much info on roll crimping) and my "RELOADING FOR SHOTGUNNERS" is very sparse also.
Re: component selection. 410 buckshot loads. | Shooters Forum
Sep 18, 2021 · My BPI (Ballistic Products) Manual only has a few loads for 3 inch 410 using Cheddite Hulls (probably pretty equivalent to your RIO Hulls). These are folded crimp and only. They are not 00, but 000 and 0000. There are some other loads using 2 1/2 Rolled and Fold Crimp. I could scan these and send them to you in a PM if you would like.
Roll Crimping Slug Hulls to fit the Load | Shooters Forum
May 20, 2004 · We had no real success using one piece wads though. It appeared that the slug needed a better base under it to assure alignment. The best loads have been made up with the Ballistic Products Obturater over powder wads, nitro wad, pure cork filler wads, and the Federal 1 1/4 oz shot cups (out of production, but still on Ebay), and a rolled crimp.

Sep 5, 2023 · Ballistic Products has beneficially assisted me in the development of shotshell hunting loads for decades. They are of great benefit in serving a sort of fringe or nitch market, and I don't believe they have ever intended to be or become mainstream. They have every right to promote their fringe/nitch reloading products.
Rolled Crimps vs Folded Crimps | Shooters Forum
Dec 24, 2002 · The second group is leaning more and more to the Fiocchi hull, unscived and roll crimped, offered by Ballistic Products. It was originaly thought that rolled crimps, with a over shot wad, caused blown (doughnut) patterns.
Commander TC20 Wads - Shooters Forum
Nov 9, 2018 · I got my hands on some of these TC20 wads and have yet to find any load data for Winchester or Remington hulls using lead shot. A lot of stuff available for the European hulls but that does me no good. I have contacted Ballistic Products and Precision with no help from either. Google has not been my friend either.
Black powder shotshells: How to load. | Shooters Forum
Dec 21, 2006 · The best buckshot we have tested for loaded ammo, smokeless or black, is from Ballistic Products Inc.....by far the hardest and most uniform! Although I did not cover it much.....there are blackpowder substitutes one can use. The best I have found is Black Mag 3. Pyrodex is also used, but I have seen some barrels ruined by not cleaning.
