Its basically their 'creation' (well, land settlement) myth and its interconected with a lot of their mythology (not just their 'creation' but also how others cultures were created and wich gods guide them).

Anyway, I'd argue that people's origins aren't important for a national flag as much as the current identity it represents (hence why people are often reluctant to change their current flag even when it's quite bad).

I just know that birds holding snakes is a bit of a trope in European (Eurasian?) history/mythology as a sign from The Gods/God, just didn't know if it also appeared in Aztec culture, or if that was a Spanish influence and an Aztec flag would probably opt for a different symbol.

2020年9月11日 · This flag really has nothing to do with the Triple Alliance (Aztec Empire). Even the sun iconography doesn't really represent a typical nahua artistic style. But I guess if we wanted to assign symbolism, we could say that the sun motif represents the god Huitzilopochtli and the dawn of the Fifth Sun, the era in which we now live.
