In a nutshell, why does everyone dislike Autism Speaks?
My impression of Autism Speaks is one I made in the 90s/early 00s. When it appeared to focus less on the Autistic individual, and more on how they effected the people around them. They seemed to frame Autism as a terrible thing that happened to a person, rather than focus on a person who may experience difficulties as a result of being Autistic.

Autism Speaks has a long history of controversy in the autism community. My son, who has autism, likes the way he thinks and feels (being neurodivergent) and this is one of the problems people with autism have with Autism Speaks (and it seems to extend to other autism groups that associate with them).
