Like, if the person has always had tics but maybe the tics were mild and they didn't think anything of it, and then they go through a period of intense anxiety, the anxiety can make the tics increase in severity and become noticeable.

I have in the past when the anxiety was the worst. My therapist said it's from too much internal stress that we don't really know how to express. Like a baby that starts crying from being hungry. The baby isn't crying to get food that way, it's crying from the feeling of hunger. With tics from anxiety it's apparently the same thing.
