A rare antique should be left alone, a neglected knife that's looking in a sorry state deserves a clean up-IF you are planning to take it into regular use. No buffers mind...Carrying and using a knife actually burnishes its appearance anyway thus it becomes more attractive.

Possibly in NYC. Those are his initials HMS on the knife. The large blade reads “IXL George Wostenholm Sheffield”.

2023年4月5日 · Also my assumption. Doesnt detract from the clean lines and square pommel at all. A good clean looking knife. Early Bowie knives were buctcher knife configuration as well. I wonder, how the two pommel pins are fixed to the tang. The Cattaraugus 225 also has two pommel pins and I know that layout but the Cat has a totally different tang.
