2022年9月5日 · Where are the fires in the Amazon? The world’s largest intact forest, the Amazon rainforest covers 2.6 million square miles across nine countries in South America: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.

44.2 million acres of Brazil’s Amazon rainforest burned in 2024. The area lost to fire in the Amazon grew by at least 66% compared to 2023, according to the MapBiomas organization’s Fire Monitor.

2020年8月19日 · Unlike the map above, the line chart is based on data drawn from the entire southern Amazon—an area that includes all of the Brazilian states of Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Acre, and parts of Mato Grosso, and Maranhão. It also includes data from parts of Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia.

2024年8月1日 · In the first seven months of 2024, the Brazilian Amazon recorded the highest number of fires in the last 20 years. Although deforestation in the region decreased by 50% in 2023 compared to 2022, burned areas increased by 36%.

2020年8月26日 · The Amazon Dashboard classifies each fire as a deforestation fire, a savanna fire, a small clearing and agricultural fire, or an understory forest fire, and tracks whether the fire is in a protected or indigenous territory.
