Jul 15, 2003 · All my books show 30 ft lbs, in proper sequence and in 10 lb increments. Also be sure to use the proper hardened steel washers required for aluminium intake manifolds. Without these washers the bolts will dig into the manifold. After the intake is seated for some time, maybe an hour or so, go back and re-torque to 30 ft lbs one more time.
Using stainless or brass fitting on aluminum intake
Oct 9, 2006 · I'm going to run two 5/8 heater hoses to heater core, one from intake manifold (front horizontal port where bypass normally goes) and one from water pump. Using the front horizontal port with a 90 degree fitting seems to make a nice clean install for routing the hose downward and hiding it behind my pass side alternater and brackets.

Need tips for removing fitting from intake manifold
Feb 28, 2005 · Try a 1 1/16" box end wrench on it. If it fits nice and snug, put some heat on the intake as mentioned, and with the intake secured, so it won't move, tap on the head of the plug with a ball peen hammer while you're wrenching on it. Keep tapping and heating it. The tapping will break the corrosion bond eventually, and the heat will help it.

The Brillo pads close the pores, stopping the contaminants form fouling the metal, and easy clean up is by simply wiping contaminants off with a clean cloth.

Oct 21, 2012 · Allen, that 3163 intake is a good stock hi-per one to have. I would rather have that intake than the 3569 that came on the LS-6. I think it flows better even tho it's not much different. The 3163's go for at least a couple of hundred, even in used decent shape. Unused NOS 3163's can fetch a pretty nice price with an early date code.

Dec 23, 2003 · When I blasted my intake, I pushed a bunch of rags into the intake runners and then used duct tape to seal them and went to town. Since it was not wet, after I was done blasting, I pulled all the rags out and blew it out with and high pressure air gun, then hosed it down with carb. cleaner and blew it out again. It came out rather nice.
