2011年12月4日 · Agreed. I've used their epoxy to bond wood to cast aluminum, among other things. A conversion coating for the aluminum is required before bonding, but that's pretty easy. Brush it on, wait a bit, rinse it off, good to bond. I've used their epoxy for 30 years in structural applications and never been disappointed.

The aircraft he was building used epoxy for much of the structure like wing assembly. He researched the subject and found boeing had a proprietary treatment process for similar attachments.

2009年3月12日 · layer of aluminum oxide has nearly zero thermal impedance. It won't prevent the heat from flowing, a thick layer of epoxy is a much better thermal insulator than that. If the epoxy bonds to the aluminum with oxide on the surface I would leave it at that. The issue of, is there a long-term failure by de-lamination is still worth considering.

2017年3月10日 · As such, I would probably want to apply epoxy on the outer surface of the crack "too" and was considering cleaning surfaces and applying epoxy then fiberglass weave reinforcement and then more epoxy to encapsulate that and extending say a half inch or more to either side the crack on the outside and an inch or more on the inside.

2004年12月19日 · No problem. Loctite "Glue for all plastics" works very well. I have used it to glue teflon (PTFE) to aluminum as well as to PTFE to PTFE. I did some testing and the bond seems to have a shear strength of about 5000 psi. When it failed it was the bond to the aluminum that failed, not to the PTFE.

2023年11月22日 · I have some 5/16-18x1" aluminum studs to use for plug material. I'm going to drill and tap the holes for those, cut a small groove in the side of the hole and the insert, and epoxy the insert in place so that the grooves form a grub-screw feature with the epoxy.

2009年10月13日 · I agree that the tape might be the best way to go, but if you want to epoxy the first trick is to rough the heck out of the aluminum, then hit it with some etch from the auto body store. I believe you can also Iridite it, but anodize may not be the best thing. Then use standard grade JB Weld epoxy. Avoid any short cure time stuff like 5-minute ...

2006年8月24日 · Delrin is a member of a group called low energy plastics. It includes teflon and polypropylene. Neither epoxy nor cyanoacrylate (crazy) glue will stick to them directly. There are super expensive technologies that will work but the most realistic method is available from Loctite.
