Visit Sitka – Alaska Raptor Center
Will you be visiting Sitka soon? Be sure to come to the Alaska Raptor Center! Beginning April 29th, the Alaska Raptor Center’s Spring/Summer visiting hours will be 8am to 4pm, 7 days a week, with last admission at 3:30pm; Beginning September 30th, the Alaska Raptor Center’s fall/winter visiting hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10am to 3pm.
About Us – Alaska Raptor Center
The Alaska Raptor Center was established in 1980 in the backyard of two concerned Sitkans, starting with one injured bald eagle. The effort grew, and volunteers treated eagles at their homes until 1983, when they moved to a small shed on the campus of Sheldon Jackson College.

Our Team – Alaska Raptor Center
Sheila Swanberg is a longtime resident of Sitka, Alaska and an avian care specialist at the Alaska Raptor Center. She cares for the rehabilitation patients, cleans and maintains bird enclosures, and prepares diets for the birds.
Sitka (Bald Eagle) – Alaska Raptor Center
Sitka (Bald Eagle) Sitka was sent to the Alaska Raptor Center after being hit by a car in Ninilchik, a small town on the Kenai Peninsula. She suffered from multiple injuries, including a hole in her right patagium, or the fleshy part of the wing, and severe damage to her right hallux, or rear toe.
