That includes over 325 commissioned deputies and over 400 professional staffers. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is committed to giving every citizen the best possible service.

Matt Clifford, who has been with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office since 2000, is now Ada County’s 39th sheriff. Clifford was appointed by the Ada County Board of Commissioners about a month after the former sheriff retired suddenly on May 31, 2021.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is the largest law enforcement agency in Idaho, with over 700 employees – split about half and half between sworn deputies and professional staff. Ada County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies provide law enforcement services for unincorporated Ada County and the cities of Eagle, Kuna and Star.

The Idaho Public Records Law gives you the right to request any document or electronic record created and maintained by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, but there are restrictions on what information can be released.

You can take an online concealed weapons course offered by the Idaho Sheriff’s Association to meet the requirement for the standard concealed weapon license. There are additional license requirements needed to get an enhanced permit.
