After taking a good look at the internals, I would have to say that the only advantages the AR-15 has over the AR-180 are the availiblity of parts and the AR-15's inherant accuracy. Otherwise, the ar-180 seems like it is put together a whole lot better. I think I might be hooked.

2023年4月28日 · What I'v used as a gauge is NIB, hopefully unmolested, AR-180 being sold on auction sites like Gunbroker to identify what accessories were included. The black cotton sling you refered to in the GB auction is what I'v seen described as a USGI black M1 "parade" sling and might be the closest you will find to the original Sterling AR-180 sling.

Seeing the number of AR-180 for both Costa Mesa and Howa were 4,000 rifles each my estimate is that both models 4,000 rifles were sold in 3-4 years before the 12,000 Sterling AR-180 started to be imported around 1976.

One was a Costa Mesa model used by a former CHP officer and a Sterling Model that was basically NIB including the accompanying scope: From what I can tell the NIB scope has never been mounted and the lens caps and elastic bands are still in excellent condition.

2018年6月1日 · Since original AR-180 magazines are a bit hard to locate and rather pricey when you do find them. It makes sense to modify modern magazines for range sessions. I have found the PMAG is a great choice for a 180 magazine. And locating where to cut the slot for the magazine catch is REALLY easy on the 3rd Generation PMAG.
