Targa Seal tech article Windshield Frame A Pillar Seal problem A problem has developed for Targa owners from an unusual source. Somewhere during the last few years, when ordering a new replacement front windshield frame pillar seal, one receives a superseded seal. Problem folks, these superseded seals just don't fit 89 and older Targa's.

Jan 24, 2011 · This is what the "sub-frame" connectors (sold by many companies) were on the lowly 5.0 Mustangs. I will be surprised if there is no such fix already engineered for the older Targa & Cab 911's. There were so many available for the Mustangs that there was benefit to researching the best one. I went with weld-in round tube ones (very strong).

Targa tops when new from factory, however they are a wear item needing rebuilt every 25 years or so. Problem is 99% of the people touching your Targa Top, know seats upholstery and convertible top, not Targa Top. Everything is different from material to technique. Ask them what they use for reinforcement.

The seat belt supports and top support/pivot points are weled in behind the door post. You can convert you car WITHOUT respraying the paint If you use a TIG and plenty of Heat Fence.

22 Step Installation Targa Seal, over windshield 1. Lay some sheets in the interior, glue residue get messy doing this job. 2. Metal trim plate needs removed 3 screws. They are sided but you may want to mark. The 77 and later Targa’s will have two rubber block which will also need removed. 3. Remove old seal by pulling, scrapping and prying.
