7Cr17Mov vs 8Cr13Mov? - BladeForums.com
2019年8月29日 · Generally, I prefer a more stainless steel for EDC. Neither D2 nor 8Cr13Mov are great at resisting corrosion. I typically prefer 14C28N, VG-10, or a good 9Cr18Mov. While I don't expect 7Cr17Mov to compare favorably to those steels, I think the corrosion resistance may be valuable (at least when compared to 8Cr13Mov).
Gerber's 7Cr17MoV Stainless Steel...underrated?
2013年12月14日 · In my opinion Gerber's steel isn't bad at all.Granted it's not top shelf stuff but I'm convinced 420HC is more noticeable to roll it's edge on dense materials than this stuff...stripping wire for example. The 7Cr17MoV seems to take a few more passes to sharpen but seems to come back as sharp as 420HC,so it's equally as serviceable as a camping ...
Anybody know about this Chinese steel? | BladeForums.com
2010年1月17日 · After digging Chinese steel standards, I can't say the picture is any clearer. As others pointed out, 7Cr17MoV is equivalent of 440A, not 440C. However, the interesting part is that, there is no 7Cr17MoV steel neither in GB/T 20878(Stainless and heat resisting steels) nor in GT/T 1220(Stainless steel bars) standard specifications. Only 7Cr17 ...

Recommendation? - 1.4116 vs 7CR17 | BladeForums.com
2020年6月20日 · Do you think those knives will come with the steel they say? Do you think they import German stainless steel to make extremely inexpensive kitchen knives in China? Hint: no. The 1.4116 is likely 5cr (if you are lucky), which isn't as big a number as 7cr so go with that one. But seriously, save your money up and buy something from a reputable ...
Thoughts on 420J2, 5Cr13Mov and 8Cr13Mov? - BladeForums.com
2008年6月23日 · 420J2 is used on a lot of the sketchy quality knife show stuff. Never had a 5Cr blade but I suspect it is also a more soft steel like the 420. Not great edge holding, fairly easy to sharpen to a working edge but not very durable. 8Cr13Mov however has a great reputation among the more budget friendly production stuff.
General consensus 9Cr18MoV - BladeForums.com
2023年12月26日 · 9Cr18: Chinese stainless alloy, similar to AISI 440C stainless steel. Most notable difference being the absence of Molybdenum from it's composition. Obviously that is detrimental to it's performance as a knife steel, Mo is a strong carbide former, not the best, but still better than nothing.
4cr14mov - BladeForums.com
2012年11月13日 · Under $25, the difference in performance between those steels and "junk" like 3Cr13, 4Cr14, or 5Cr15 can feel a lot bigger than any price difference. I think 7Cr17Mov and the 8Cr steels are okay at $25 or less. The 8Cr steels can have a little better edge retention while 7Cr17Mov has significantly better corrosion resistance.
12c27 vs 9Cr18MoV - BladeForums.com
Nowadays, 12C27 is probably the favorite steel for high end pocket knives in french cutlery. I don't like the shiny stuff but I must say it performs brilliantly. Swedish and norsk brands (EKA, Helle) also like this steel a lot and here again, it's a winner. Given the low carbon content it's quite amazing and perhaps they use some cryogenic ...
