Worth it to wait for 50 series? : r/nvidia - Reddit
The 50-series is likely 2025. The entire ecosystem (well, if you want to call 4050 -> 4090 an ecosystem) will change after tonight's announcement of the 40-series Super. The 4080 is going to be pancaked by the 4070 Ti Super (which allegedly matches the 4080 performance), plus by the new 4080 Super.

What is a good get me by GPU until the RTX 50 series comes out?
RTX 5000 series is still quite a long ways off - we're still very much near the beginning of the current GPU generation (RTX 4000/RX 7000). I wouldn't worry about buying an "intermediate" GPU at this stage.
Should I get a 4080 and wait for 50 series, or just get a 4090 now?
2023年7月15日 · Nvidia has made every other card either overpriced for what it is or outright gimped. The 4070/ti and 4080 gpus are good but way too much for what they offer and the 4060 and ti are just laughably bad. Seems like Nvidia will probably do the same with the 50 series, make the 5090 a genuine banger but butcher every other card in the lineup.

Should I buy a 40 series card or wait for 50 series?
I truly believe the 50-series will somehow resolve the power connector issue. I recently tried FSR3 on the Forspoken Demo and was amazed by the performance boost on my 30-series (almost doubled the fps). Having said that, it feels like AMD's FSR3 is going to prolong the lifespan of a lot of non-40 series gamers.
Get a 40's series gpu or wait for the 50's series. : r/buildapc - Reddit
I think OP was asking about waiting for the 50 series in order to take advantage of the 40 series dropping in price. Granted, your snowballing logic on why not waiting for 60's or 70's, may still apply, but it seems like OP is asking whether to buy now, or see if the price of the 40's drop with the release of the 50's.
