2020年10月6日 · 444 Marlin should fit well for Ohio restrictions. Most shots are 200 yards or less in the wooded areas, and not much longer in agriculture areas. I would mount a low power ( 2-7) scope. happy hunting.

2011年8月14日 · Agree Marlin likely stronger than the Winchester, but the Marlin feels more than the listed 1lb heavier to me. Especially if one gets into the Timber model with 18.5 inch barrel ported. Agree stay away from 240 HP, and the 275 Barnes is a great choice. The 300 Barnes is a bit more of the same, though I've only shot those in 44 mag rifles.

2020年10月6日 · Honestly, the Marlin you have will take as much or more pressure than any break action single shot. Unless you made a Ruger 1 into a 444 you aren't going to exceed what the 444 can do in the Marlin. Same for a bolt action, u can't load the 444 enough hotter to make any appreciable difference.

2020年10月6日 · What I said is the Marlin lever is stronger than any BREAK action single shot. I also said that even a a Ruger or a Bolt gun you cannot upload a 444 enough to make any realistic performance difference over what you can get out of the Marlin lever and that there was a poor selection of bullets in 444.

2013年6月17日 · I run Speer Gold Dots 270g in my 44 Mag lever, and my buddy uses the same in his 444 Marlin. It is an extremely tough bullet. Even in the 444 it punches clean through most things except really large boars. The Hornady 265g is another he uses, but it is a different animal to the Speer bullet. Expands quite large. We like monolithic bullets, but can only find the Hammer 205 grain Jack Hammer bullet. I would like to use something a little heavier, but keep striking out.

2010年2月22日 · Correct. It is a different case entirely, much stronger. I also have an Encore in this cartridge but mine was a .44 Magnum reamed to .444 Marlin by David White at D & T Custom Gunworks. D&T Custom Gunworks Forum It is quite a handful in a pistol. Mine likes the Hornaday LeverEvoloution 265 grain ammo in factory form.

2015年11月30日 · Several years back three or four guys I know bought Ruger #1's in 44 mag. They then ran a .444 Marlin reamer thru the barrel. Worked well. Yet another guy decided he wanted a bolt gun, and of course it didn't work so well. Seems like he ended up using reworked 57mm Mauser brass, but 30-06 brass would also work.
