2016年6月27日 · One curiosity in this hobby which I never understood is the 1.25" 40mm plossl. What is the point of this tunnel-vision 43* AFOV eyepiece, when a 32mm plossl offers the same TFOV with slightly higher magnification, darker background sky and increased resolution with a more pleasant 52* AFOV. Not only that, but a 32mm is smaller and lighter to boot.

As for owning it and using in a telescope, the novelty of a 40mm quickly wears off and it essentially becomes a finder eyepiece with no other purpose other than assist locate - and the 32mm Plossl arguably does a better job of it in any case.
