Am looking to purchase a new 2009 crossover that will seat 7. Major issues are price, mpg, and comfort of interior and 3rd row seat. Not many crossovers seem to fit 7 unless you go real big. We are trying to decide among the Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, Chevy Traverse, and Ford Taurus X (which seems to be out of stock everywhere).

We need to buy something with a 3rd row. We are open to mini vans and SUV's.

The 3rd row folds down easily and there are latch points and tether spots for carseats in each seat in the back. My only complaint would be that it would be tough to get to the 3rd row with carseats in the 2nd row- you have to fold down the seats. But I guess you could always put 2 in the 3rd row and the baby in the 2nd row to leave access open.

2nd row has 3 sets of LATCHes & we can fit 1 Graco Base + 2 Britax Marathon car seats in the 2nd row. The Pilot also has 1 set of LATCHes in the 3rd row. My boys like to sit in the 3rd row, so we have the baby in the 2nd row middle, one Marathon 2nd row driver's side, & one Marathon 3rd row passenger side. Good luck with your search!

I have the HL with the 3rd row, Hybrid actually. The second row moves front and back. With both the driver's seat and the second row seat fully back, and the child seat forward facing, there is still 10-11" to recline from full upright before you touch the seat. One note however: the Highlander sits lower than some other SUV's.
