Should I take the 3070 with only 8 GB of VRAM? : r/nvidia - Reddit
Or is it better to wait for the 3070 TI / Super release, but will there be any and if so, when. It literally torments me. Why can't I just go buy a graphics card and enjoy it with nvidia deciding to drastically cut the VRAM of 3070-3080 graphics cards. Do they really think that 8 GB is enough for video cards of this capacity?

The developers of Godfall recently announced that playing at 4k, Ultra settings will require cards with 12GB VRAM. The game is built with the new AMD cards in mind though and the developers want to leverage the increased VRAM capacity as best they can.

2023年4月20日 · So, 256-bit gpu bus divided by 32-bit vram chips = 8. Gpu can only support up to 8 vram chips. Micron only supplied 1GB vram chips at the time. 8GB total VRAM. Same story for 3070, 3080, 3080 12GB, 3080ti, 3090 and their GDDR6X chips and bus widths. Do the same math for their bus widths and it’ll make more sense why they came with the vram size.

2021年5月6日 · AMDs 6000 series all have 16GB so Nvidia started adding more. I would expect any updated 3070 and 3080s to have a lot more VRAM. More VRAM should make a GPU valid for longer and more "future proofed". Nvidia saved money on the VRAM where AMD probably went way beyond what they needed to.

2023年1月2日 · FH5 eats 7,5 at 1080p extreme (without RT) on 3070 and 8,5Gb on 6700XT. 3070 is still a better card even for higher resolutions (more VRAM consumption) than 6700XT with less video memory. At least in those games you mentioned. Don't be so strict with the VRAM. It might cause problems only if an application requires at least 80% or more.

2022年2月17日 · If the 3070 and 6700 XT are around the same price where you are, the 3070 is clearly the better card with DLSS offering a far bigger advantage in future proofing than the 6700 XT gets from it's 50% extra VRAM. I wouldn't pay more than a 20% premium for the 3070 though, if the price difference is greater than that just buy a 6700 XT.

2022年7月14日 · Using a 3070 in 2029 would suck, just based on how outdated the computational performance would be for a 9 year old card, nevermind the VRAM. lol A GTX 770 (9 years old) today is far from good, and would need many compromises in the game settings to get playable framerates in most modern games, if the games even run at all on the old drivers.
