Jan 29, 2010 · OCZ's tech support told me this thing is supposed to be 30 db at idle and that 30 db is almost inaudible unless I am closer than 2 feet to the unit. So how loud exactly is 30 db? I sit with the computer in front of me at my feet, the distance from the PSU to my hear I would say is at least 4 feet. It sounds pretty audible to me.

Apr 6, 2019 · Loudness is one aspect, but frequency of the noise is the other. A 30db low frequency noise might be tolerable, but if it is higher frequency it might be annoying.

Jun 9, 2021 · That's the difference between db and db(A). Your perception is squewed. The phone is measuring actual noise levels, but what your ears actually hear is frequency levels. You can have a speaker at a certain db level, add an identical speaker and it only raises the level by 3db, but to your ears it's much louder.

It applies to many things, beyond just electronic equipment. for example, a lawn mower running next to you, is around 95 to 100 db. Standing next to a jet engine about to take off, is around 130 - 150 db. Anything over 120db is considered to be past the threshold of pain.

Oct 3, 2019 · Now there are also instances where the system just shutdowns, I receive no image, screen just goes black and I am greeted with a reboot 30-40 seconds later. It has happened with the games, but it has also happened while browsing Chrome and trying to watch Youtube videos. It changes between crashes and reboot with no identifiable pattern as to why.
