Oct 17, 2016 · The 270 books out just under 3200 with a 150, the 7mm has no problem getting that or better. I think the 270's strong selling point is the excellent ballistics it offers in 22-24" barrels. Makes for a great flat shooting rifle that's easy to carry and won't kick your --- …
270 WSM or 7mm rem mag - Long Range Hunting Forum
Feb 13, 2005 · Ric has a very valid point. If I was to get one gun does all for your needs, the 300 WSM would do the job. Why 7mm Rem Mag over the new 7mm WSM? You really are comparing apples and oranges. The Roosevelt elk of Western WA tend to have smaller racks & bigger bodies than the usual Rocky Mountain elk.

Mar 4, 2015 · At 1,000 yards, the .270 WSM is still faster at 1,770 FPS vs. the 7mm RM running at 1,699FPS (but the .270's 217 FPS 'head start' is down to only 71 FPS.) Both are still around 1,100 Ft/Lbs of energy at 1000 yards. This was surprisingly close. I thought for sure the .284 bullet - with the higher BC - would overtake the .270 by 1000 yards, but ...
7MM-Rem-Mag-vs-7MM-WSM - Long Range Hunting Forum
Sep 12, 2009 · Had both go with the 7 wsm. A 7mm Rem mag at high pressures with swell above the belt. the wsm is already a improved case with a 35 degree shoulder. Its kind of like comparing a 6br to a 243. They with both do the job but the short fat steeper shoulder improved cartidges are hard not to love. The wsm is a great case design its hard to find ...

Improved or straight 7mm SAUM/ Blaser Mag or 7-270 WSM
Dec 28, 2014 · If it wasn't for the shorter neck on the 7-270 WSM (assuming that it is not much longer than the 7mm WSM), I would most likely have gone with it given the 35* shoulder on the 7-270 WSM and capacity balance between case in question and assuming the required performance is within the capability of the cartridge.
270Wsm vs 7mmRemMag... - Long Range Hunting Forum
Jun 10, 2015 · I switched from a 7 RM to a 270 wsm a couple years ago. Haven't regretted it. My 270 wsm has a 3" shorter barrel and is about 1lb lighter. In equal weight bullets the 270 will have a higher bc and higher or comparable velocity in a shorter barrel vs the 26" barrel of the 7mm. The upside to the 7mm is that you can shoot heavier bullets out of it.
