The CCI shot loads have a good nylon base wad for the shot charge. These base wads have remarkable penetrating ability out to fifty feet or so. Keep that in mind.

2010年9月24日 · Yes, as William Iorg mentioned above, some manufacturers did make some smoothbore .22's specifically for shooting rat shot, but they're apparently very rare. My .22 is a rifle, not a pistol. I don't have any rat shot shells, but I noticed 4 boxes of Federal shells at my local gun shop. It seems only CCI makes the plastic tipped shells.

2024年5月3日 · Smoothbore .22 Long Rifle shotguns are available, but they are fairly lousy with standard/regular/normal .22 LR cartridges that use a bullet. Shotshell ammunition is more expensive than bullet ammunition. "Rat shot" from a .22 LR might not be as humane with rats as other options, again personal use will be a factor.

2004年12月4日 · Rifled barrels ans rat-shot make for wide patterns very quickly...usualkly kind of do-nut shaped as the shot is slug by the rifling twist so you get the thinned part of the apttern just where you aim. Smooth bore does shoot tighter patterns and has the best collection of shot in the center. Now the bolt action...that was a surprise.

2019年1月20日 · For snakes, I use #8 in handloaded CCI capsules out of a .38 or a .44. I've also killed a bunch with the 22 long rifle shot shells and the 22 magnum shot shells. They all work. You have to get within 6-8 feet of you target. Using a 22 rimfire rifle and #12 shot shells, I shoot Starlings in a barn that is constructed of galvanized steel.

2005年7月28日 · A year ago I shot a 60" rattler with the CCI 44 shot from about 8 feet away. The snake was disabled on the first shot. It was still alive, but had lost all interest in me. I shot two more times to finish it faster. I have compared the 22 and 44 patterns on cardboard at about 8 feet distance. Kind of like PeeWee vs Major League.

2022年7月25日 · I have an invasive lizard problem down here in Fla. Agama lizards are taking over. They are usually about 8 or 10 inches long, but bigger than every thing else, and wiping them out. Out in the country 22 rat shot and its all over, not so in the current neighborhood. Thinking of using rock salt or maybe kosher salt at close range, usually 5-10 feet.
