Sep 14, 2011 · Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but 1AZ RAVs have 2 A/F and 2 O2 sensors, while 2AZ have 1 A/F and O2. That makes a 2AZ ECU not plug n play, requiring a different engine harness and exhaust system. The ECU and engine harness can be had cheaply via salvage, but the exhaust system, manifold+cat+muffler+pipe, would not.

Jul 30, 2019 · If you have a 2001-2003 RAV4, it has the 1AZ-FE 2.0L.... and this engine is not concerned by the head-bolts TSB. Not all 2AZ-FE suffer from this failure. This engine is installed in a bunch of Toyota/Scion vehicles (and Pontiac Vibe), and majority of them will never be affected by this problem.

Jul 14, 2021 · I mistakingly got a used 1AZ-FSE engine for my 01 RAV4. Cylinder heads on both thses engines are totally different as one`s a direct injection engine with EGR and completely different wire loom/ECU. However, blocks look the same so I may try fitting my 1AZ-FE cylinder head to the 1AZ-FSE block.

Aug 6, 2013 · Do not use the 1az oil pan with the 2az oil pump. It will fit but it will block the pickup and you will get no oil pressure!!! I found out that the 1az pump is sufficient and will work fine in the 2az 1az-fe Oil capacity Drain and refill w/ Oil filter change 4.2 liters (4.4 US qts, 3.7 lmp. qts)

I believe my lifters are going bad, having a ticking sound come on every time I start the car cold or a slight ticking even when is fully warmed up. I been told a higher end oil filter might change it or even putting additives in might solve the problem: they haven't.
