Jul 10, 2017 · I can access it using localhost:8080 or using the computers IP-address 192.168.xxx.xxx:8080. This all works fine. However, I thought I should be able to access this site from another device in my home network as well. Typing the 192.168.xxx.xxx:8080 in the browser of this device (ipad). But this doesn't work. "This site cannot be reached".

During the set-up, the router originally provided the "192.168.x.x" IP Address range. However, before the set-up was complete a Netgear pop-up message appeared informing me that due to an IP Address conflict with my ISP, "Netgear" was changing my IPadd to 10.0.0.1. There was no mention of speed or any other issues.

My home router has been set up by default to allocate 192.168.0.0/24 IP addresses to local machines, and it's something you can change by your personal preference, within the 192.168.0.0/16 range. –

What's after the slash defines the number of bits that define the network range. For example, using 192.168.0.0/24, you keep 24 bits (so the first 3 numbers), so the addresses are from 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.255 (although those two addresses at the end are not used for machines: one is the network address, the other is the broadcast address).

Aug 12, 2018 · It is not the DHCP range that's important, but the subnet range, which I am guessing is 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.255. In fact, if you set the address manually, you should assign an address within the subnet, but outside the DHCP range, eg 192.168.0.99.
