What is 0 dB in digital audio? - Sound Design Stack Exchange
2013年9月9日 · Since the dB is a ratio as you say, "0 dB" just means "no change". In the context of digital sampling, I'd consider 'full scale' to be the reference point -- i.e. 255 in an 8-bit system -- making anything less a negative dB value. But unless it's specified, (as in dBa, dBm etc) it's just speculation and open to interpretation.
Volume Display, 0dB, Reference Level - how is it all related?
2010年8月30日 · Too many successsive 0 dB samples in a row (usually four) will light the clip indicator in any audio editor. - 0 dB or 'unity gain': the point at which the receiver is not attenuating (reducing) the input level from the source component at all. All receivers have such a point, regardless of whether it uses an absolute or relative volume display.
mixing - How loud is 0dB, and what is a good dB to mix to?
Technically, I read - 0,3 db is pretty safe. 100% safe is - 6db. That is the peaks, of course. No peak going above -6db and/or -0.3 db. Don't forget that volume is not really measurable. It is mostly perceived. There is a harmonic balance to be found between high mids and lows. If you have too much lows, you volume will peak and very low ...

2011年10月29日 · The db SPL gave me a reading of 109 db (given my specs) What does this actually mean? Is this calculator telling me how loud my amp will drive my speakers? 109db is friggin loud. My sensitivity is 87 db. Does this mean that …
Decibel sum problem on 0 dB + 0dB - Sound Design Stack Exchange
2020年10月5日 · Decibel is relative measurement, there are no absolute values. So, assume we define dBA as the relative amount of apples and we define that 1 apple equals 0 dBA. Half an apple would be -6 dBA and two apples would be 6 dBA. Let us also define 0 dBB as one banana. If we now add 0 dBA + 0 dBB what do we get?
What is 0db level on Yamaha 2500? - Audioholics Home Theater …
2005年10月10日 · Play a modern hyper-compressed CD where the average level is -10 dB and you will get 95 dB SPL. The peaks will still be the same (85+20=105 and 95+10=105) for the occasions when the level on the CD hits 0 dB. I know this stuff can be confusing until you get your head around it. Just don't confuse 0 dB as a digital level with 0 dB on the volume ...
Why does volume on modern receivers INCREASE to 0db?
2005年5月20日 · The 0 dB thing refers to your pre-amp not your power amp. My c-j pre-amp does not have dB markings on the volume control, but I know from reading the reviews of it that at about 2/3 point on the volume control is 0 dB. So it attenuates below that point and actually boast the signal (amplifies) above that point.
What does the db scale on my AVR volume control mean?
2017年1月7日 · If that seems counter-intuitive, it’s because the scale is actually telling you “how many dB before maximum output,” or something akin to that, with 0 dB being maximum. This is somewhat obfuscated by the fact that some receivers volumes (like yours) actually move to the (+) side of 0 dB, but that’s the basic idea. Regards, Wayne A ...
Question about 0 db and clipping | Steve Hoffman Music Forums
2016年4月17日 · Please understand that "dB" is a relative term. Using a specified reference, an audio sample can be said to be so many dB higher or lower, but there is no absolute 0 dB. Every piece of equipment can have its 0 dB level defined wherever the manufacturer chooses. For example, the clipping point on my digital mixer occurs at "+18dB".
speaker level- always set at 0db? - Audioholics Home Theater …
2008年2月22日 · This would also depend on the overall maximum indication on the display when fully turned to its max position. Some receivers max is 0 on the display, then you would not set your reference to 0 but say -10 or -15. Others will have a max indication someplace in the + 10 to + 18 range. Then you reference point for the master volume would be at 0.
