2010年11月15日 · I've found the best way is to make sure the pintle is sized for the ring. I've had an M416 for over 20 years and use a 7 ton pintle bought from northern tools. It fits my ring pretty well. Also keep a little gear oil or grease on the ring where it meets the pintle. That really keeps the turning pops down because the ring slides easier.

2009年3月28日 · Pintle hitch is a rougher ride than a standard ball hitch. I bought an equipment trailer with a lunette eye (the ring that goes in the pintle hook) and have had a pintle hook on my truck since I bought it in 2000 (link in signature to picture of the bumper).

2010年4月6日 · yep, i use a dedicated pintle hitch for my deckover equipment trailer, much much less slop than a pintle/ball combo hitch. it almost feels like a ball hitch. and i also keep a combo hitch with 2 5/16" in my toolbox for our enclosed. The pintle combo+plate is much stronger than a standard drop drawbar.

2008年9月4日 · The pintle is more advantagous on larger trailers with a high GVW. You're going to like the ball better in your situation because your trailer is light and you will have less slop in your hitch coupling. A pintle is rated heavier than a ball hitch. Thats why a lot of guys use them, but you will like a ball better with a small 7K GVW like yours.

2006年3月3日 · The Pintle hitch wasn't the problem it was the weight of the trailer is the problem. Your pulling a trailer that requires a medium duty or a tandem axle. You will feel that trailer behind a 5 ton truck aswell especially with a 450 JD loader on it.

2019年9月21日 · Use as few connection points as practical. Adding 5-10lbs of steel with a pintle hitch adapter and pintle doesn't sound like the most streamlined solution possible for a recovery with a receiver. If at all possible, I will hook the strap/rope directly to the pin in the receiver hitch.

2006年9月29日 · A couple reasons why pintle over ball. 1) I have a 16' landscape trailer w/ pintle ring, but was using a friend's 5x8 landscape trailer w/ ball a few months ago to move some logs around. had to put a ball mount on the truck as opposed to my pintle. End of the day that ball hitch was bent downwards.
