Menmaatre Seti I (or Sethos I in Greek) was the second pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt during the New Kingdom period, ruling c. 1294 or 1290 BC to 1279 BC. [4] [5] He was the son of Ramesses I and Sitre, and the father of Ramesses II.

Seti I (flourished 13th century bce) was an ancient Egyptian king of the 19th dynasty (c. 1292–c. 1191 bce) who reigned from c. 1290 to c. 1279 bce. His father, Ramses I, reigned only two years, and it was Seti who was the real founder of the greatness of the Ramessides.

Egyptologists recognize Seti I as the best known of all the restorer pharaohs due to his marking of repairs with his name. Many of Seti’s restorations and additions are considered continuations of work left incomplete by previous rulers.
