If implemented like that, it's obvious how to do mipmapping: nothing changes. Even if you have a GPU that supports non-power-of-2 textures without padding, the mipmap levels would end up with "padding". e.g. a 3x3 texture would have a 2x2 texture as lod 1.

According to my understanding of mipmaps, I can set each mipmap level manually, so I could change the image to use when my texture looks greater or smaller. I tried the following code but doesn't matter the size of the triangle, it always take the first mipmap level. Why? if the triangle is closer to any other mipmap level, why does not take it?

2021年12月21日 · To generate the next mipmap level, I am trying to read in the 4 pixels of the upper mipmap level per pixel. Unlike the usual mipmap generation. I am checking the depth values, and only averaging those of the 4 pixels which are in depth range. To do so, I need to read in the next larger mipmap level than the current one I am suppose to render to.

Samplers are opaque types ; the only way to access the resources the sampler represents is to use the standard library functions like texelFetch .

For lod, it means the level of detail in the mipmap. We can simply use 0 for the base level (the original size). Thus, an example of using texelFetch() should be: vec4 texelValue= texelFetch(texture2D, ivec2(gl_FragCoord.xy), 0);
