A few reasons - a) It was M2, while the iMac was M1 - tech that's 2.5 years old. b) Base M2 Mini (which is all I needed) has an ethernet port, base iMac does not. Requires an additional ($) dongle. While I currently use Wi-Fi for my internet connection, I preferred to have the free option.

I have installed several PCIe blades already in this model imac, with the proper Apple format 16+12 pins, and just one with an adapter and a (pc) M2 connector (not a Samsung but a Transcend ssd - photo).

2009年3月25日 · Most likely the M2 iMac won’t come out until early to mid 2023, though there is always a chance we could see a refresh in October or November this year. What that refresh could entail beyond the switch from M1 to M2 is anyone’s guess by the way.
