Lose a coolant hose (and all your coolant) and the gauge never goes past normal. :thumbdown Modern VW's (1.8T and V6) have the coolant temperature sensor in close proximity to the head; although, being screwed into the head is the absolute best location.

I believe they're actually made by Zerex (which Valvoline owns). Car and Driver had an article a while back describing the differences.

2007年10月15日 · The G12+ is supposed to be easier on seals and gaskets than regular G12. (Haven't heard for sure on that) In January, 2003, VW/Audi introduced G12+ (part number G 012 A8F A4), an antifreeze with purple coloration. It can be freely mixed with the original pink G12 (part number ZVW 237 G12). The VAG specification for G12+ is TL 774-F.

2004年6月6日 · The additives in the G12 coolant are different then the additives in the GM Extended Life DEXCOOL type coolants. When those 2 coolants are mixed together the heat and time will cause the additives to precipatate out and basically cause chunks to be floating around in the cooling system.

2022年2月28日 · The G12 A8D (edit: actually A8D, not A8B. I think there is a typo) is known as regular G12. G12 is an OAT type of coolant. G12 EVO has backward compatibility so you can mix it. But my opinion on coolant is stick with the same type if you know for sure what it is. The dealership usually will only have the latest coolant offerings.
