Coefficient of variation of circular data - Cross Validated
2021年5月27日 · The definition of coefficient of variation is as follows: coefficient of variation= standard deviation/mean. I am using circular (directional) statistics to find the mean and standard deviation. My question is: can I use the same definition of the coefficient of variation (given above) for circular data as well? Thanks in advance
How to interpret the coefficient of variation? - Cross Validated
2015年1月8日 · As the coefficient of variation is unit-free, so also it is dimension-free, as whatever units or dimensions are possessed by the underlying variable are washed out by the division. That makes the coefficient of variation a measure of relative variability, so the relative variability of lengths may be compared with that of weights, and so forth ...

2022年8月25日 · For me, the usual definition of the Herfindahl index is this one. See also this question. Here, on page 26, it is defined as a function of the coefficient of variation: Are these definitions of the Herfindahl index related to each other? Does anyone know an alternative source for the latter definition? Thank you.
Is variation the same as variance? - Cross Validated
Levine and Roos (1997) also consider standard-deviation $(\sigma)$ a variation concept, among others. To demonstrate why the distinction might be important, compare also the coefficient-of-variation $(\frac\sigma\mu)$, and the mathematical concept, total variation, which has several definitions unto itself.
Using coefficient of variation in lab testing - Cross Validated
2018年7月10日 · In order to determine the accuracy of a specific method, I need to determine if the results are statistically precise. In the example below, I am taking a sample from 7 individuals and running their sample twice. For each row I calculated the mean SD and Coefficient of Variation. Ideally the CV should be <15%.

Coefficient of variation for % increase - Cross Validated
2015年4月7日 · I was reading about the coefficient of variation and it seems that it can only be computed for ratios (non-negative values). I have a list of values which indicate the % increase in a particular quantity. In certain rare cases, there is …
Can coefficients of variation be compared if the ... - Cross Validated
2018年12月14日 · Generally, all measures are subject to sampling variation, so keeping an eye on the sample size being used is always prudent. Specifically, the coefficient of variation is highly labile at the best of times. That follows mostly from its being a ratio and hence especially sensitive to variations in the mean as well as the SD.
