The Village of Avon, in response to a significant infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in its largest park, will be implementing two DEC Urban Forestry Grants. Between 700 and 800 ash trees have been removed in Avon's Driving Park due to this invasive species.

The Assessor of the Town of Avon is obligated by New York State law to maintain assessments at a uniform percentage of market value. The Assessor is responsible for establishing and maintaining assessments, retain and updating inventory records, processing and storing transfers/sales, tax maps and administering exemptions.

South Avon is located along the Avon-Geneseo Road between Ashantee and the southern boundary of the Town of Avon, New York. Early settlers in the area were attracted by the rich farmland and the availability of water power for development of those industries needed in an active community.
