Home of the VT-28 Rangers Training Squadron TWO-EIGHT (VT-28) is one of two primary training squadrons located at NAS Corpus Christi, TX. Primary training consists of several instructional phases of flight in the T-6B Texan II single-engine, turbo prop, ejection seat aircraft.

After twelve years as a Ranger, Stephenson became the commanding officer of the VT-28 SAU in February 2023. He has accumulated over 3,000 hours in military aircraft and has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal (3) and Navy Achievement Medal (2).

The VT-28 patch depicts the silhouette of a Texas Ranger mounted on a rearing horse. Flying over the Ranger is an aircraft leaving a patriotic contrail.
