In Japan, it takes 10 years of apprenticing to properly learn Togi (Japanese Sword Polishing). One of the most important things about learning Togi is Kantei (Sword Judging), which is very important when polishing antique nihonto.

Migaki-Togi (Burnishing the Shinogiji and the Mune) – is the process of burnishing the blades shinogiji and mune to a high mirror shine. I use three different kinds of burnishing rods in 2 stages, namely Shitamigaki (Foundation Burnishing) and Uemegaki (finishing Burnishing).
