Jacopo Robusti[a] (late September or early October 1518 [2] – 31 May 1594), best known as Tintoretto (/ ˌtɪntəˈrɛtoʊ / TIN-tə-RET-oh; Italian: [tintoˈretto], Venetian: [tiŋtoˈɾeto]), was an Italian Renaissance painter of the Venetian school.
