2023年8月19日 · Now, does that mean it’s something Superman should do? I’m not sure. I certainly prefer this over Man of Steel. I think if Man of Steel had shown, as Mark Waid once proposed, that Superman was losing the fight because he was trying to limit collateral damage, and Superman was then forced to kill Zod, I would have been more on board with that.

Also, in terms of content and story length, the World Engine being activated happens almost right after Superman First engages Zod and Co in a skirmish. Superman and Zod technically haven’t even fought yet, a story Supes pushes him thru a silo and Zod immediately withdraws.

2023年5月3日 · The fact that Superman kills Zod is only one of many things I don't really like about Superman II, along with Clark picking a fight with Rocky the trucker for some broadly forgivable trash talk, giving up his powers to be with Lois because a dead woman said he has to, and of course, most egregiously, the mind wipe kiss.

Superman isn't dogmatic about his no-killing rule and has broken it quite a few times. Just ask Doomsday or Darkseid or that random Sun-Eater. Superman understands the difference between someone willing to kill for the greater good (Wonder Woman, Red Hood) and a kill-happy maniac (Manchester Black).

Modern Superman: "I beat up people weaker than me." Golden Age Superman: "I do. When I have to." The death pf Superman wasnt meant to be the Reboot of the character for a new generation. Plus the story had actual merit and isn't a clusterfuck. So no. Ok, I'm starting to think you hate Man of Steel on a personal level. Calm down, dude.

Zod wasn't trying to get Superman to cross that line to compromise his morals. He was using Superman's morals to force a choice. Superman wanted both humanity and the surviving kryptonians to live. Zod realized Superman would've killed him or ended it already if that weren't the case (and Supes were actually experienced fighting prior to MoS).
