Way too many programs these days try to keep background checkers and downloaders running constantly, without letting you know that ahead of time. I turned everything from SolidWorks off, but after rebooting (and before opening SolidWorks), there it was in the Task Manager. Strange.

I’m experiencing an issue when opening STEP files in SolidWorks 2025. Every time I import a STEP assembly, the parts lose their original alignment and are repositioned at the origin point. This does not happen with STEP files exported from older versions or in other software. I’ve tried adjusting the import settings, but the problem persists.

A System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException is thrown when I try to open SolidWorks files using the SldWorks.OpenDoc6 method. The message of the exception is "The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)."

This time, SolidWorks keeps insisting that my guide curves are invalid because they do not intersect the base sketch, if I am understanding correctly. As I said, when I've used this feature before I didn't have to do anything special to make SolidWorks understand that the guide curves intersected the sections.

I have a hollow half-cylinder created by extruding a profiledrawn as a 3Dsketch. I have also created a spring shape by usingSwept Boss/Base, and twisting a small circular profile along a path- a line along the axis of the cylinder. nice. the diameter of thesmall circle neatly straddles the edge of the cylinder as it sweepsup to form the spring.
