Freon™ 409A is a nonflammable hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) based refrigerant. It works with existing MO in many unitary and close-coupled systems, and requires 10-25% less refrigerant after retrofit. One compressor oil change to AB typically removes 50-80% of the existing MO to satisfy compressor OEM recommendations and requirements.

R-409A is used in direct expansion refrigeration and air conditioning systems designed for R-12 or R-500; good success in any size system. Available in 30 lb. cylinders.
