The PLZ-05 or the Type 05 is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer developed by the People's Liberation Army of China to replace the Type 59-1 130 mm towed gun and Type 83 152 mm self-propelled gun.

PLZ-05 155毫米自行加榴炮 是 中國人民解放軍 正式装备的首款155毫米履带式 自行火炮，由 PLZ-45自行加榴炮 发展而来。 采用52倍口径身管，用以替代 83式自行加榴炮，2005年正式定型量產。到2013年为止, 解放军至少已装备了288门PLZ05。 PLZ-05一般装备于解放军陆军集团军或（西藏 、 新疆）军区下辖的炮兵旅。

China developed the PLZ-05 Self-Propelled Howitzer in response to the evolving nature of conflicts. This sophisticated artillery system combines mobility, firepower, and adaptability perfectly. It demonstrates China’s determination to remain at the vanguard of military innovation.

The PLZ-05 started arriving in active units in 2007 and began to replace the aging Type 83 152 mm (5.98 in) artillery self-propelled gun. It was deployed at division level to provide long-range accurate firepower.

2024年9月29日 · The PLZ-05 is a Chinese tracked self-propelled howitzer armoured vehicle designed and manufactured by the China North Industries Group Corporation (CNGC). The development of the PLZ05 reportedly began in the mid-1990s, it was a further development of the PLZ45 and the first prototype was completed in 2003.

2019年7月3日 · The PLZ-05 adds tremendous ranged fire (either direct or in-direct Line-of-Sight capability). It is a complete 35 tonne weapon system intended to deliver hard-hitting munitions out to ranges of 100 kilometers using specialized projectiles.

Introduced in Update "Firebirds", the PLZ05 is a modern 155 mm SPH system comparable to the Norwegian/Korean VIDAR, Japanese Type 99, and German PzH 2000. Like the others, it has an autoloaded, high-velocity 155 mm howitzer on a lightly protected, high-profile chassis with substandard gun handling.

The PLZ-52 SPH is motorized with a 1000hp engine and an automatic transmission box featuring excellent mobility and maneuverability. The PLZ-52 can reach maximum road speed of 65km/h with a maximum cruising range of 450 km.

2025年1月27日 · 155mm, which Norinco started producing in 2005 Self-propelled gun . The manufacturer, Norinco , seems to call it PLZ-52 after its caliber. It is a new self-propelled gun with the caliber changed from 45 to 52 and various improvements applied to the existing PLZ-45.
