I'm believe Texas is one of the highest states for car value / income. When I worked there, my clients all drove luxury cars that sometimes outstripped their pay grade. No income tax, reasonable cost of living, diversified economy, and decent income means people feel obliged to splurge on their vehicles since they spend so much time in their cars.
