2024年3月19日 · The U.S. natural gas pipeline network is a highly integrated network that moves natural gas throughout the continental United States. The pipeline network has about 3 million miles of mainline and other pipelines that link natural gas production areas and storage facilities with consumers.

This includes consideration of power sector models at a range of operational scales—from power flow analysis to production cost and capacity expansion modeling—with gas network models that model transient flow dynamics and can track gas mixture and quality.

Currently, gas grid development is reactive, driven by distribution system operators (DSOs), rather than proactively adapting to declining demand for fossil gas which is required in order to meet climate goals.
